The supplied device (dialler) for the landline component of the plan attaches to any analogue landline in 27 countries (soon to be 70+) and provides untimed international (within included countries), or STD calls for one flat monthly fee. You can take it overseas with you. The mobile phone service is also included in the one fee and unlike any other plan I have come across you do not even need a mobile data account. The handset supplied has the latest patented technology.

Multiple diallers can be attached to the one account for no additional cost.

Before we go any further with this plan, which is provided by an Australian company, let's discuss what VOIP is.
Voice over IP (VoIP) is simply using the internet rather than a landline or mobile service to have a telephone conversation.

The 2 main traditional types of phones used in landline VOIP are:
A SIP phone or VOIP phone looks plugs to the internet but looks like a normal telephone.
A soft phones or USB phone which find the connection to the internet through your computer but they are actually just programs running on your computer. They will only work if your computer is on.
The main drawback of these is that if there are interruptions to your internet connection you do not have a phone connection either.
With all of the traditional mobile options be they software or hardware based you are restricted by most of them to only receiving free calls to others using the same software or carrier or you are charge a flat fee for each call. The one constant with every traditional plan I have seen is that you must have a data account and your mobile phone, and with costs of about 20 cents (AU) per kilobyte charged by some providers the saving experienced are good but they could be better.
The main reason VOIP is so appealing is because it provides better and more enhanced service at a lower cost. It costs less because Internet connection is billed per megabyte rather than per minute like regular phone calls. The cost for data transfer is much less than that of time connected.

VOIP is available on mobile and landline phones. You can call local, long distance, roaming, international and mobile. VoIP continues to grow in popularity because it's fast, efficient and reliable and you can easily port numbers from one carrier to another.
The best traditional deals I have found provide unlimited inbound and outbound telephone calls to anywhere in the world for one low, monthly fee that is all inclusive. Even these however, besides the fact that you need a functioning internet/data connection, also require what can be a substantial hardware investment.

The mobile and Landline Phone bundle I mentioned earlier is offered in 27 countries (expanding to 70 shortly) by an Australian based company. They offer a business grade quality VOIP service and the Internet is not required. This will open the market up to the non technology savvy consumer.
The landline component of the plan, using the dialler (multiple available on the one account) is available now, offering unlimited minutes for STD (long distance) and international calls to 27+ Countries (competitive VOIP rates are charged for other countries).
The one drawback of this service is these diallers will not work on ISDN lines or on extensions of a telephone system. If a business is unsure of the type of lines they have they should contact their service provider and ask. Analogue phone lines are fine, ISDN are not. Most home phone lines are analogue so this should not be a problem for private users.
The mobile phone component should be up and running April 2010 and will be included in
bundle cost, mobile phones with this latest technology will be available from the company (one mobile only per bundle). This service will also use carrier grade VOIP routes, delivering high quality calls, without the need for a data connection and no costs incurred by your current carrier.
The dialler with the absolute latest technology is easily installed. Most importantly the landline diallers will operate on any analogue telephone line anywhere in the world right now with the call charges to various countries (those countries not in the 27) being exactly the same as listed for Australian users, for example, a person living in Canada will pay the same rate to ring China as a person living in Australia.
This service is being marketed mainly through word of mouth; another company(who helps with promotion of the service) pays commission to any consumers currently using the service who refer their friends and family as long as they join the plan through the associate company.
With this plan you keep your current numbers, there are no contracts (you pay each month in advance), no credit checks and there is no fair use policy (i.e. you are allowed to stay on the phone for 2 days straight without a break if you want to), if anyone knows of a better plan out there please let me know.
